Founded in 1983, the Civica Raccolta del Disegno has grown over time thanks to acquisitions supported by public funds and the generosity of artists and private donors.
Today, it comprises approximately 850 works on paper by contemporary artists, with a particular focus on Italian art from the post-World War II period to the present.
For the 2025 museum season at MuSa, the Civica Raccolta presents a cycle of three exhibitions.
The first, In-certi luoghi, features a selection of works from the collection’s holdings. It will be followed by two exhibitions dedicated to artists who have distinguished themselves in the field of contemporary drawing.
The theme of this first exhibition explores the poetic concept of place, understood not only as a landscape but also as an inner space, a dimension of dreams, research, and thought. The journey, both physical and mental, permeates the works: from depictions of real scenarios —mountains, hills, marine atmospheres—to imaginary worlds.
Both tangible and fantastical places are often infused with mystery, the unexpected, and the uncertainties of life, blurring the boundaries between the physical and the metaphysical.
Each work thus becomes a territory of reflection, an invitation to wander between the visible and the invisible, suspended between reality and vision.
